Srini(vas) Bolisetty is the lead clinician and a senior newborn specialist and paediatrician at the Royal Hospital for Women, Sydney.
As a senior consultant at a major referral centre, his daily tasks not only include dealing with some of the sickest newborn infants admitted to the intensive care unit from all over the state, providing comprehensive antenatal counselling to families with high risk pregnancies, particularly in relation to the possible outcomes and complications that can occur in their babies, but also looking after the healthy newborn infants born each day to help a smooth transition for babies and their families.
He supervises many other specialists-in-training, registrars, residents and medical students. He is passionate about patient safety and quality assurance.
His main strengths include collaborating and coordinating the teams to make sure the best and most up-to-date evidence based services are delivered to the babies and their families.
He is one of the coordinators of several consensus meetings for the clinicians both locally and state and nation-wide with the aim of developing clinical practice guidelines on some of the important but controversial management issues in newborns.
He is a regular publisher in international scientific journals. He is a regular speaker on newborn issues at national and international conferences.
He recently won the New South Wales Health Award for the Collaboration and Innovation and the Clinical Leader of the year 2012 for the South Eastern Sydney Area Health Services.
